FAQ

1. What is DTF printing on apparel?

In the world of garment printing, a new technology is rapidly becoming the go-to solution for combining flexibility and premium quality: DTF printing (Direct To Film).

This innovative process transfers designs onto a special PET film before heat pressing them onto fabric. Unlike traditional methods such as screen printing, vinyl transfer, or DTG printing, DTF allows for highly detailed and vibrant designs on a wide range of materials, including cotton, polyester, blends, and both light and dark fabrics.

Using a multi-step transfer process and specialized DTF equipment, this technique delivers a soft feel, outstanding color accuracy, and long-lasting durability.

Because it requires minimal fabric preparation and offers excellent adhesion, DTF has quickly become one of the most popular solutions for modern custom apparel.

Whether for streetwear, fashion, or everyday clothing, DTF printing provides a versatile and durable way to bring designs to life.

2. Does the print last over time?

The results speak for themselves: DTF printing delivers vibrant colors, sharp details, and excellent image quality.

When properly cared for, DTF prints can withstand dozens of machine washes while maintaining their appearance and flexibility. Unlike some traditional transfer methods that may crack or peel over time, DTF designs remain soft, durable, and resistant to everyday wear.

Many apparel printing professionals choose DTF technology because it combines comfort, design stability, and long-term durability.

Following the recommended care instructions will help keep your garments looking their best for years to come.

3. Why is DTF More Eco-Friendly Than Other Printing Methods?

While some traditional printing techniques, such as screen printing, consume large amounts of water and generate chemical waste, DTF printing is considered one of the more environmentally friendly solutions available today.

DTF uses water-based inks and a specialized adhesive powder that, once cured, produces very little waste while maintaining outstanding print quality.

In addition, the process minimizes unnecessary production steps, helping reduce both energy consumption and material waste. As printing technology continues to evolve, DTF remains at the forefront of more sustainable and environmentally responsible apparel customization.

4. What Is DTF UV?

DTF UV (Direct To Film UV) is an innovative printing technology that uses UV-curable inks to create transfers that can be applied to a wide variety of surfaces.

Unlike traditional DTF printing, which is primarily used for textiles, DTF UV is designed to adhere to materials such as plastic, glass, metal, wood, and many other hard surfaces.

The UV ink is instantly cured under ultraviolet light, creating a durable, high-quality finish with vibrant colors and excellent detail. This process is ideal for customizing promotional products, accessories, drinkware, and other non-porous items.

DTF UV designs offer excellent resistance to water, scratches, and UV exposure. However, because the design sits on the surface of the item, it is not dishwasher-safe and should not be exposed to oven or microwave heat. For maximum durability, hand washing is strongly recommended.

5. Will the Print on On My Mug Last Over Time?

  • No dishwasher use: Prolonged heat and harsh cleaning chemicals can weaken the adhesive and eventually cause the design to lift or peel.
  • Heat resistance: DTF UV prints are not designed to withstand extreme temperatures such as those found inside an oven or microwave.
  • Care instructions: Wash gently by hand using water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive sponges or scrubbing pads that could damage the design.

6. Will the Print on My Water Bottle Last Over Time?

  • Excellent adhesion: Because the design conforms perfectly to the curved surface of the bottle, it provides outstanding durability and long-lasting performance.
  • Resistance to minor impacts: The design remains flexible and is less likely to chip or crack from everyday bumps and light impacts compared to some painted finishes.
  • Excellent moisture resistance: The bottle can be exposed to water, condensation, or occasional immersion without affecting the design.

⚠️ Important Usage Limitations

  • Hand wash only: The bottle and its design are not dishwasher-safe. The combination of high temperatures, water pressure, and harsh detergents may damage or destroy the printed design.
  • Sensitive to deep scratches and abrasion: If the bottle rubs against keys, rough surfaces, or is dropped onto concrete, the metal surface may become scratched, dented, or chipped, potentially affecting the design as well.

Care Instructions

Apparel Care

  • Do not dry clean or use bleach;
  • Do not tumble dry;
  • Iron inside out at a low temperature (110°C / 230°F maximum, iron setting 1). Excessive heat may damage the design;
  • Never iron directly on the printed design.

Mugs, Water Bottles & Drinkware Care

  • Not dishwasher-safe;
  • Do not use in a microwave;
  • Hand wash with water and mild soap only;
  • Avoid abrasive sponges or scouring pads.
